According to the pictures and captions I’ve seen on social media the last week or so, I’m not the only one that’s a fan of fall! There is just something about that crisp breeze and the changing leaving that has everyone in love.
Now even though the first day of fall was on September 22nd, I just can’t bring myself to pull out all my decor and whatnot until October 1st. My hubby and I were talking about this the other day and I realized that not only do I love fall, but I love OCTOBER even more!
I love October so much so to celebrate OCTOBER 1ST here is a list of all the reasons why:
Pumpkin EVERYTHING…except coffee
Pumpkin painting, pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice flavored (although I don’t drink coffee so no PSL’s for this gal), pumpkin carving, visiting the pumpkin patch, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin painting, need I continue? There is just something so cheery about pumpkins and something so yummy about that pumpkin spice flavor.
The outside activities
Bonfires, corn mazes, tailgating, walks in the park, pretty much anything and everything you can do outside. It’s not freezing cold yet and the sun is no longer sweltering hot so it’s the perfect time of year to get outside and enjoy the weather and good times with family and friends. Even just a nice walk around the neighborhood is so much more enjoyable in the fall weather.
My birthday!!!!!
Need I say more?! 😉
The candy!
I am a healthy eater for sure, but man can I throw back some candy in the month of October! Candy corn, candied apples, Halloween candy, more candy corn…. My daughter isn’t old enough to eat candy, but I may or may not let her do a little trick-or-treating, you know, just so I can do some taste testing.
Football
Okay, I realize that October isn’t the only month with football, but it falls in October so I’m including it! Oh yea and let’s be honest, it’s about the food and socializing for me, absolutely nothing to do with the sport.
Speaking of food… Baking
I realize that baking takes place throughout the year, but there’s something about baking up warm, yummy cookies, cakes, and breads when the weather is starting to get chilly.
Sweaters and boots
I am no fashionista, but there is nothing better than a pair of boots and a sweater. I feel like the boot game has gotten so good lately – so many styles, colors, and materials. A gal can just really never have too many. And sweaters – long, short, oversized, cardigan, printed, solid, open, turtleneck, V-neck, printed, chunky, cable-knit. There is just something stunning about a well made, beautifully knitted sweater. Pair the two together with leggings or jeans and you’re got a gorgeous fall outfit.
The drinks
It’s finally cold enough some mornings for hot chocolate (my favorite, since I’m not a coffee or tea drinker!), apple cider is served at many orchards and pumpkin patches, and there’s nothing like a good harvest craft beer around the bonfire. Even October’s drinks have a way of warming the soul.
The scents
I felt kind of strange typing that, but there’s just something about the scents that come along with fall. I am a former Scentsy consultant and October was always one of my bestest sales months – people needed pumpkin, apple, and cranberry smells in their house asap once fall was upon us. And maybe it’s just me, but I feel like being surrounded by those yummy fall scents makes a home so cozy.
The flowers
Mums, sunflowers, and verbenas just to name a few! Fresh flowers are always make me happy, but the beautiful yellows, oranges, and deep reds of fall flowers are just simply gorgeous!
Halloween
Last, but not least this is for sure one of the most fun “holidays.” Now I personally don’t get into the creepy, spooky side of things, but the still leaves plenty of fun things. This overlaps a bit with some of the fun activities I listed above, but many of them are more Halloween specific – the costumes, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, hay rides, there’s even a HUGE Halloween themed 10k in our area!
So there you have it! My list of reasons why October is the best month of the year!
Now tell me, what’s your favorite month? Why?
