The Easiest Cookie Recipe

So for the first time in my life (I think) I will share a cookie recipe I’ve been slightly famous for since college. These bad boys are SO simple (they’d have to be or you wouldn’t be finding them on my blog) and so, so yummy! They’re also quick, which comes in handy if you’re anything like me and have a sweet tooth craving and need it immediately.

So, here goes…

First you need to preheat your oven to 350¬įF. That’s a pretty simple first step, right? ūüėČ Then you need to gather your ingredients – one cup of peanut butter, one cup of white sugar, and one egg.

Next you take those three ingredients and mix them together.

Once they are mixed together, shape them into one inch balls and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. If your oven is finished preheating at this point, go ahead and put the filled cookie sheet in. Set your timer for 10 – 12 minutes. (While I am waiting, I start unwrapping the chocolate droplet candies that I will be placing on the cookies).

Once they are done baking, take them out and carefully place a chocolate droplet candy in the center of each of the cookies. (They will have flattened out a bit while baking). Let them cool and then enjoy!

I really hope you enjoy! These cookies are tried and true and have been shared with many family and friends over the years! When you make them, let me know what you think!

And to make your life a little easier, here’s your recipe:

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

  • Servings: 24 cookies
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 24 chocolate droplet candies

  1. Preheat oven to 350¬įF
  2. Combine sugar, peanut butter, and egg.
  3. Shape into 1 in. calls on ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake 10-12 mins.
  5. Press chocolate droplet candy into center of warm cookie.

Family Adventures

My husband, 14 month old daughter, and I live within walking distance from one of the most beautiful parks in our area. It probably wouldn’t compare to many others in our country, to be honest, but to be right smack in the middle of one of the busiest shopping areas, worst traffic, and tree population dwindling daily for a new strip mall, it’s truly stunning.

It’s a 1.5 mile gravel trail that circles a beautiful lake. There are picnic tables, a playground, and multiple decks along the trail. On any given day there are families, joggers, and leashed pups galore! It truly makes me forget about the hustle and bustle of where we live. There something so refreshing about getting back to nature. Such beautiful simplicity to it.

On this particular day, we went directly after church, and enjoyed a nice family walk.

My husband had on his new favorite thing, his JORD watch. On this particular day he styled it with jeans and a plaid button down, but it is dressy enough for something more formal, and also casual enough that he wears it every day, as well.

When I visited the JORD website, I looked at both the women’s and men’s watches, as my hubby drooled over the shoulder. I knew I had to go with the men’s watch because he’d already fallen in love!

Upon getting the watch I was even more impressed. It is lightweight, but also sturdy. It has beautiful detail and even arrives in it’s own individual wooden box. And although this may sound a bit strange, it even smells beautiful. It’s genuinely made of wood, you guys, so it has a natural, Earthy smell to it.

Do you totally love this watch? Want one of your own…or I mean one for a special person in your life?! ūüėČ JORD has been amazing enough to let me offer my readers the chance to win a $75 gift card!!!!! JUST FOR ENTERING, you receive a $20 gift card! Click¬†HERE¬†to enter!

Must Have Monday’s

Must Have Mondays – Issue 8

Phew! Life has been crazy busy lately!!! I’m starting to feel like the October/fall activities are what really kicks off the “holiday season.” Fun fun fun! But busy busy busy! Anyway, it’s Mondayyyyy so that means my Must Have Monday’s must go on! Yay!

If you’ve never checked out one of these posts in the past it is a short & simple post with three things I ADORE! I always choose a recipe, a blog/blogger, and a product that I’m swooning over and it’s always something tried and true or I wouldn’t be willing to feature it!

Some without ado, here’s this week’s Must Have Monday’s

This week’s recipe is¬†Tuscan Chicken Skillet¬†by¬†The Wanderlust Kitchen

Okay can we just salivate at this picture alone??! Too much? Haha Seriously though, I am the WORST in the kitchen and this dish ended up being just as yummy and juicy looking at that picture! The sundried tomatoes, the beans, and the mushrooms just taste so yummy together and chicken is almost always my meat of choice when I cook. It’s an¬†easy thing to do so many different things with! To make it fancy, pair it with a glass of white wine. Or to make it a typical weekday in my house, pair it with a glass of white wine, put it in a bowl, ¬†and sit on the couch. It’s a one dish meal so serving and cleaning up is quick and easy. Yes, one dish my friends, that alone is enough to persuade to make it!

The week’s blogger is Annie Rothe of¬†Simply Annie

I don’t know if it’s that she’s super sweet or it’s because she’s one of the first gals I met when I started this blogging journey or that’s she’s a mama to a little girl whose close to my daughter’s age or that she too has two fur baby dogs that have her heart or that I could read her posts all day long, but I just love this gal and her incredible blog. Annie¬†is relateable, easy to talk to, and has a heart of gold. She blogs about motherhood and life in general and has some awesome DIY projects! She also shares many¬†motivational things – whether it be a sweet blog post or a quote, you’re sure to leave her blog feeling inspired and with a smile on your face.

This week’s product is SoapSox

The first time I saw this product I thought, “how cute!” Since receiving Ava the dolphin (yes, SoapSox has a name for each of the characters! Love!) I have learned that this product is not only cute, but just a really great invention for bath time. You “feed” the stuffed animal liquid soap or a bar of soap and it lathers throughout. You can then use the stuffed animal, with its soft terry cloth exterior, to wash your baby or kiddo as you would with a wash cloth, just in a much more fun and adorable way! And if your child is like mine and wants to play with it when it not bath time, it’s machine washable! (Since becoming a mother anything machine washable is my best friend, anyone else??) This thing is fun to use and super cute! And let’s be honest, my child is great at having a meltdown because the toy she is currently playing with can’t go in the bath, enter SoapSox! “From play time to bath time!”

Must Have Mondays

Must Have Monday’s – Issue 7

Every other week I post three must have’s in my life – a product, a blogger, and a recipe. Since the majority of my readers are women these three things are things that they can typically use or relate to.

Enjoy this week’s picks!

This week’s recipe is¬†Turkey Meatloaf¬†from¬†Boys Ahoy

This is one of my absolute favorite dinners! I actually contemplate whether my husband is sick of eating it or not sometimes. It’s just simple and it so, so yummy. Total comfort food too! I always find myself scooping some out as I’m putting it away that night. I also feel like it’s a simple and fancy enough meal that it’s something I’d trust myself making if we company over (because if you know anything about me it’s that I’m not the best when it comes to cooking). This meal is really yummy with the potatoes shown, but I also pair it with roasted carrots, which is also delicious.

This week’s blogger is Jennifer Brown of¬†Jen & Juiceboxes

This girl’s blog (and her in general) just make me happy! She has an infectious smile and a way with her words that has me clicking through blog post after blog post. She is as real as they come and you immediately relate with her, especially if you’re a mother. She is fashionable and funny, as well! Her blog is beautiful and her posts are clearly written from the heart, even when it’s a product review. Like many bloggers, Jen does product reviews, but unlike many bloggers you can tell she is both particular with who she works with and also doesn’t let that aspect of blogging take over. She stays true to who she is and why she started her blog and as a fellow blogger she has my utmost respect for that.

This week’s product is¬†Mother Load Bags

Oh my goodness! My need for organization, especially when we are on the go, had me loving these bags the second I laid eyes on them! They are color coded, machine washable, and have a mesh backing so that you can see inside without having to take to go digging through it. It’s something easy to have packed and ready for running errands or even a night away – whether you need one bag or all five! And they also ALL come with attachable wristlets so if it is only one you’re grabbing you can throw it on your wrist and go! That alone makes me love these bags – if you’re a mama, any hands free product is win!

I really can’t say enough about how much I love these bags. They were each so carefully and thoughtfully created:¬†The bag for diapers comes with a changing pad, the bag for snacks has sectionals in it and the bag for soiled clothes is water proof!

The Top 5 Teething Toys

This post contains affiliate links which means I may receive compensation if a purchase is made.

As a pregnant mama I remember picking out a handful of cute little teething toys and scanning them to my registry and never thinking about them again.

That was until we were in the deep, dark trenches of teething.

I don’t know why it must hurt so badly, but boy does it stink to see your little one in so much pain! I never truly knew how helpful a teething toy could be until I found one I loved. Over time I have found what soothes her achy mouth the best and have gotten more along the way, but boy do¬† I wish I’d had these in my arsenal to begin with.

The following are our top 5 favorite teething toys:

Bright Starts – Pretty in Pink Teether

There’s something about that circle shape that just works so well when it comes to baby teethers. Again, this teether is so easy for my little one to hold. This one also gets put in the freezer to make teething pain a little more manageable. The little shapes around the ring twist freely, while staying put so they are easily manipulated by baby’s mouth. There are also many different shapes so they soothe different parts of the mouth differently.

Dr. Brown’s – Coolees Watermelon Teether

I registered for this teething ring when I pregnant, because, wait for it, it was CUTE! Thank goodness it actually works! This is the first frozen teether my little one ever used. It is easy to hold and its shape allows your baby to position it right where the nagging pain is coming from.

Sassy – Grapes Terry Teether

By the time my little one’s second tooth was starting to come in, she’d showed US what felt awesome to those sore gums – sucking on a washcloth. We couldn’t keep it away from her during bath time and if I was folding laundry they’d all disappear. On nights when the teething monster was really rearing its head I’d even get a washcloth and wet it with ice cold water to help soothe her. Then one day I saw this in the store! Ta-da! No more messy washcloth. I immediately bought it knowing she’d love it¬† -and she did. You wet it and actually freeze it (I was worried it would be rock hard once you freeze it, but it’s not). They have other terry teethers but I was a particular fan of the little “grapes” sticking off this one to help get in specific places that are aching.

sillichews РDonut

This is such a great teether. I may be a little biased since it’s shaped like a donut, but we won’t focus on that for long! Haha Seriously though, this teether is awesome! The shape of it makes it so, so easy for my daughter to hold. It also is both firm and ever so flexible so it stays in place just so, as she holds it in her mouth. The back side of the donut has teeny little nubs¬† on it that also helps soothe. And lastly, but definitely not least it is BPA free and made of food grade silicone. Now that’s something that this mama can get down with!

Nuby – Wacky Teething Ring

This is our most recent teething ring and we LOVE it! We were visiting friends about a month ago and my daughter stole this from her little friend. Thankfully, our wonderful friends mailed her her own brand spanking new one for her birthday. Something about the little nubs on that green part just seem like it really soothes, plus she loves the crinkle noise the fabric part makes.

I hope this post helps you find a teether (or five!) that work perfectly for your little one! Best of luck mama’s (and daddys!)

Why I’ve Stopped Apologizing

This is going to be a short and sweet, but I feel like someone needs to hear it. I wrote it a while ago but it’s been sitting in my drafts folder. Something is pulling at my heartstrings tonight to share it. Hopefully God’s laid it on my heart and I’ll inspire someone. Or maybe I just need to remind myself? Whatever it may be, it’s on my heart, so here you go!

Stop apologizing when you don’t know something.

Yes, you read that correctly. Maybe you’re guilty like I am/was. So many times I’ve said, “I’m sorry but can you explain such and such” or “I’m sorry, I don’t know how that works.” You don’t have to apologize for not knowing something! I proudly embraced this when I began my blogging journey almost 8 months ago, but I’ve noticed lately that I’m slipping. I want to embrace learning new things. If I can help someone I don’t want them to feel that they need to preface their question, request, etc. with, “I’m sorry.” And I would hope that someone I’m asking for help from would feel the same way. No one should ever feel discouraged to ask a question about something they’re unsure of.

You’re not weak for not knowing the answer, you’re strong for boldly asking!

My Favorite Month of the Year

According to the pictures and captions I’ve seen on social media the last week or so, I’m not the only one that’s a fan of fall! There is just something about that crisp breeze and the changing leaving that has everyone in love.

Now even though the first day of fall was on September 22nd, I just can’t bring myself to pull out all my decor and whatnot until October 1st. My hubby and I were talking about this the other day and I realized that not only do I love fall, but I love OCTOBER even more!

I love October so much so to celebrate OCTOBER 1ST here is a list of all the reasons why:

Pumpkin EVERYTHING…except coffee

Pumpkin painting, pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice flavored (although I don’t drink coffee so no PSL’s for this gal), pumpkin carving, visiting the pumpkin patch, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin painting, need I continue? There is just something so cheery about pumpkins and something so yummy about that pumpkin spice flavor.

The outside activities

Bonfires, corn mazes, tailgating, walks in the park, pretty much anything and everything you can do outside.¬†It’s not freezing cold yet and the sun is no longer sweltering hot so it’s the perfect time of year to get outside and enjoy the weather and good times with family and friends. Even just a nice walk around the neighborhood is so much more enjoyable in the fall weather.

My birthday!!!!!

Need I say more?! ūüėČ

The candy!

I am a healthy eater for sure, but man can I throw back some candy in the month of October! Candy corn, candied apples, Halloween candy, more candy corn…. My daughter isn’t old enough to eat candy, but I may or may not let her do a little trick-or-treating, you know, just so I can do some taste testing.

Okay, I realize that October isn’t the only month with football, but it falls in October so I’m including it! Oh yea and let’s be honest, it’s about the food and socializing for me, absolutely nothing to do with the sport.

Speaking of food…¬†Baking

I realize that baking takes place throughout the year, but there’s something about baking up warm, yummy cookies, cakes, and breads when the weather is starting to get chilly.

Sweaters and boots

I am no fashionista, but there is nothing better than a pair of boots and a sweater. I feel like the boot game has gotten so good lately – so many styles, colors, and materials. A gal can just really never have too many. And sweaters – long, short, oversized, cardigan, printed, solid, open, turtleneck, V-neck, printed, chunky, cable-knit. ¬†There is just something stunning about a well made, beautifully knitted sweater. Pair the two together with leggings or jeans and you’re got a gorgeous fall outfit.

The drinks

It’s finally cold enough some mornings for hot chocolate (my favorite, since I’m not a coffee or tea drinker!), apple cider is served at many orchards and pumpkin patches, and there’s nothing like a good harvest craft beer around the bonfire. Even October’s drinks have a way of warming the soul.

The scents

I felt kind of strange typing that, but there’s just something about the scents that come along with fall. I am a former Scentsy consultant and October was always one of my bestest sales months – people needed pumpkin, apple, and cranberry smells in their house asap once fall was upon us. And maybe it’s just me, but I feel like being surrounded by those yummy fall scents makes a home so cozy.

IMG_1964 - Copy.JPG

The flowers

Mums, sunflowers, and verbenas just to name a few! Fresh flowers are always make me happy, but the beautiful yellows, oranges, and deep reds of fall flowers are just simply gorgeous!

IMG_1953 - Copy.JPG

Last, but not least this is for sure one of the most fun “holidays.” Now I personally don’t get into the creepy, spooky side of things, but the still leaves plenty of fun things. This overlaps a bit with some of the fun activities I listed above, but many of them are more Halloween specific – the costumes, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, hay rides, there’s even a HUGE Halloween themed 10k in our area!

So there you have it! My list of reasons why October is the best month of the year!

Now tell me, what’s your favorite month? Why?

And now for that ANNOUNCEMENT¬†I was talking about….
